Traditional historic Catanian biscuits whose recipe dates back more than a century, created by the hands of cloistered nuns. They have a distinctive and unmistakable “S” shape (or esse shape) and a very crumbly, dry and crunchy texture achieved through prolonged baking in the oven. The key ingredient that gives them their unmistakably Mediterranean fragrance is anise seeds.
