About us
Tipp.food was born from a simple idea: places can also be told through the things that are truly worth tasting.
We do not want to create yet another restaurant guide, nor a ranking of the best establishments. Tipp.food starts with a different question: what is that dish, dessert, specialty or product you would recommend to someone by telling them, “if you come by here, you have to try it”?
A Tipp is precisely that: something a person has tasted and considers worth recommending to others. It may be a traditional recipe, a restaurant’s specialty, a bakery product, an ice cream, a sandwich, a famous dish or a little-known discovery known mainly to those who live in that area.
People are the ones who build Tipp.food, recommending what they have actually tried, explaining why it is worth it and indicating the exact place where it can be found. When several people recommend the same Tipp, the recommendation gains strength without turning into a vote or a review of the establishment.
In this way, we want to gradually create a map made not of restaurants to judge, but of good things to discover: from Modica to New York, from a small village to a large city, without geographical boundaries and without necessarily giving priority to the most famous places.
Tipp.food is a project by Studio Scivoletto, the Italian company that has been developing digital services dedicated to tourism since 2001 and that created Bed-and-Breakfast.it.
The project is still young and will grow together with the people who use it. Our goal is to keep its original idea intact: just a few simple, understandable concepts. Someone tastes something special, recommends it and enables someone else to discover it.
